Happy Wednesday!
Tomorrow, like every Thursday, is my happy learning day. Being an eternal student for the last two decades enabled me both to offer the world what interested me the most, and to adjust my value proposition to the ever-changing needs of clients and prospects. However, it wasn't always like that. Before I became an independent consultant, almost 19 years ago, employers did not really support my learning. In 2020 it sounds silly, but back then, learning at work, and in my case, reading articles that were related to my projects, was quite unacceptable. I was even told to read in my free time, at home. And so, I decided to create the right conditions for my learning, and running my own business was a reasonable way to do that back then. Fast-forwarding twenty years, I am even more fortunate, leveraging technology to learn from brilliant colleagues and experts, constantly and easily, without leaving my room, or while walking the dog. So, what are the plans for tomorrow? I'll be learning from Max and Dave about effective links between HR activities and financial outcomes. I'll listen to Ben and others to expand my knowledge about HR-tech. I'll also explore the work of Anna's HR analytics students from NYU. Join me on my learning celebration!

Thoughts and Articles
Here's an amusing attempt to compare my performance as a data scientist to the performance of AI and data science automation, that I made in 2017. I used this article again when I talked lately about predicting employee attrition, in the last cycle of my course "The People Analytics Journey". It is not an easy task to demonstrate students how predictive analytics is done, because their brains are still wired by the limits of statistical inference. Eventually, this will change, when academic programs update their introductory courses. Till then, I'll keep insisting to expose HR leaders to AI backstage.

The way we speak and write can reveal early indications of psychosis. Computers can spot those signs. What if such tech falls to the hands of the wrong employer? when legit work data become protected medical data?
